Working for the present and looking to the future.

The coastal resources of Newfoundland and Labrador are being challenged by ever increasing and competing demands.  This has produced the need for a management regime to allocate benefits among all the user groups.

Stakeholders include:

  • fisheries

  • tourism

  • aquaculture

  • communities

  • recreation

  • conservation

  • The Red Ochre Regional Development Board and the Nordic Economic Development Corporation have formed a partnership, the Integrated Coastal Zone Management - ICZM  to foster the integration of economic, social and environmental objectives in a framework of protection and conservation while enduring sustainable development of coastal resources.  ICZM has adopted the inclusive and proactive approach to ocean/coastal management and development of national and international ICZM   organizations.
